The ARC (Cessna) 400 Series RT-459A Transponder is a direct replacement for the common RT-359A. The RT-459A takes the basic RT-359A chassis and adds more power and convenience. The additional power allows this transponder to be used to 30,000 feet. The tuning levers are a bit unusual, but they work very quickly once you get accustomed to them.
Some of our RT-459A transponders, like the one shown here, have ARC's tan faceplate. Please check availability, as we may have units with black faceplates as well.
If you need a black faceplate to match the rest of your radio stack, and we are currently sold out of black, we can change a tan faceplate to a refurbished black one for $75 extra. Our refurbished faceplates look great.
The RT-459A is compatible with encoders (either an encoding altimeter or a blind encoder).
The RT-459A features:
- 200 watts transmission power
- Mode C compatibility
- TSO'd to 30,000 feet
- Reply light dimmer
- Self test function
- Provision for remote ident switch
You may also be interested in an Encoder to use with this RT-459A. When installed with an Encoder, the RT-459A will report both your position and altitude to ATC (Mode C).
