Product Description
King's KT-76C is a thorough update of the popular KT-76A. The real benefit of this newer technology is simple operation. For example, with its sequential pushbutton code entry, entering a new squawk code is as easy as dialing a telephone. Entering the VFR code (1200) is even simpler, thanks to a dedicated VFR button.
The bright microprocessor-controlled gas plasma display shows both your current code and the altitude your encoder is sending to ATC.
The KT-76C can replace a KT-76A / KT-78A with minor installation modifications. (Please see the upgrade steps below.)
The KT-76C features:
- 4096 discrete codes
- Mode C compatibility
- 200 watts transmission power (may be used up to 35,000 feet)
- Modernized Silver Crown Plus styling, like the KX-155A and KX-165A
- Backlight labels and knobs
- System test capability
- TSO'd
If you are upgrading from a KT-76A to a KT-76C, these are the needed steps:
- Remove the dropping resistor if a 28 V installation. The KT-76A needed this, but the KT-76C does not.
- Add another power supply connection to pin 12. (This is recommended, but not required.) This provides more power to the KT-76C.
- Upgrade the fuse from 3 A to 5 A. (The KT-76C can use more current.)
- Remove the RFI Suppression Adapter (if installed).
You may also be interested in an Encoder to use with this KT-76C. When installed with an Encoder, the KT-76C will report both your position and altitude to ATC (Mode C).
